The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
