The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
