Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
