'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
