In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by (the angels) who stand in ranks, 1 and the scarers scaring 2 and by the reciters of the Reminder: 3 Indeed your God is surely only One. 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the planets, 6 With security from every froward devil. 7 So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 And if any is able to snatch a fragment, he is pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. 11 You marvel (at the wondrous creations of Allah) and they scoff at it, 12 They pay no attention when they are reminded 13 And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, 14 it and say, "It is only plain magic". 15 When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 And they will say: Ah! woe be unto us! this is the Day of Requital. 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
