The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
