The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
