The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers: 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We have not created but with reason the heavens and the earth and all that lies within them. The Hour (of the great change) is certain to come. So turn away (from them) with a grace. 85 Verily, your Lord is the All-Knowing Creator. 86 And indeed We have given you seven verses that are repeated, and the great Qur’an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 who have broken the Koran into parts, 91 By thy Lord, We will question them all. 92 About all what they used to do. 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 We suffice thee against the mockers, 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
