Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
