The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 has created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
