He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
