The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
