S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Saad* – By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
