Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 The places of worship belong to God; so call not, along with God, upon anyone. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
