The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
