And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
