The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
