Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In high empyrean 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
