In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
