The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
