Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
