The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
