Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent - 1 who created death and life that He might examine which of you is best in deeds, and He is the Almighty, the Forgiving, 2 who created the seven heavens, one above the other. You cannot see any inconsistency in the creation of the Merciful. Return your gaze, do you see any crack! 3 Then look again and yet again, thy sight will return unto thee weakened and made dim. 4 And indeed, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights, and have made them the object of futile guesses for the evil ones [from among men]: and for them have We readied suffering through a blazing flame 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they are cast into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils up, 7 well-nigh bursting with fury; [and] every time a host [of such sinners] is flung into it, its keepers will ask them, "Has no warner ever come to you?" 8 They say, 'Yes indeed, a warner came to us; but we cried lies, saying, "God has not sent down anything; you are only in great error. 9 They will say: "If we had listened and been wise, we would not have been among the inmates of Hell." 10 Thus will they confess their sins. Damned are these inmates of the Blazing Fire. 11 [As against this,] behold, for those who stand in awe of God although He is beyond the reach of their perception, there is forgiveness in store and a great reward. 12 And whether you speak softly or proclaim it aloud; He indeed knows what lies within the hearts! 13 Shall He not know, who created? And He is the All-subtle, the All-aware. 14
