The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
