And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
