The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
