S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
