Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46
