Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
