The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
