The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? 10
