The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
