The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
