He said: my Lord! expand for me my breast. 25 and make my task easy for me. 26 "And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 16, Page 159]. 27 That they may understand my speech, 28 Appoint for me of my folk a familiar, 29 Haroun, my brother, 30 "Increase my strength with him, 31 and let him share my task, 32 That we may glorify Thee much 33 and remember You abundantly. 34 You are surely watching over us. 35 Allah said: "You are granted your request, O Musa (Moses)! 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before). 37 “When We inspired in your mother’s heart whatever was to be inspired.” 38 saying: "Put him in the box and cast it into the river. The river will cast him on to the bank, and he shall be taken up by an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his." I lavished My Love on you, and to be formed in My Sight. 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 I have chosen you for Myself. 41 Go thou and thy brother with My signs, and slacken not in remembrance of Mine. 42 Go to Pharaoh, for he has waxed insolent; 43 And speak unto him a gentle word, that peradventure he may heed or fear. 44 The two said:" Lord! We fear he may commit excesses against us, or transgress all bounds." 45 'Fear not,' said He. 'Surely I shall be with you, hearing and seeing. 46 So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance. 47 "'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.'" 48 The Pharaoh asked them, "Who is your Lord?" 49 He said: Our Lord is He Who gave to everything its creation, then guided it (to its goal). 50 He said: then what happened to the former generations? 51 Musa said: the knowledge thereof is with my Lord in the Book; my Lord erreth not, nor He forgetteth. 52 It is He who has made for you the earth as a cradle and threaded roads for you and sends down water from the sky with which We bring forth every kind of plant. 53 Eat (for yourselves) and pasture your cattle: verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 54
