Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 40
