Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
