The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
