Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is for Allah alone, Who created the heavens and the earth, and brought into being light and darkness, and yet those who have rejected the call of the Truth ascribe others to be equals to their Lord. 1 He it is Who hath created you from clay, and hath decreed a term for you. A term is fixed with Him. Yet still ye doubt! 2 He is God in the heavens and the earth. He knows what you hide and bring out into the open, and knows what you earn (of good and evil). 3 And never does a sign come to them from among the signs of Allah, except that they* turn away from it. (* The disbelievers) 4 For they had denied the truth when it came to them, but there is going to reach them the news of what they used to ridicule. 5 Why do they not consider how many generations living before them We have destroyed. We established those nations in the land with abilities far beyond those given to you. We sent down plenty of rain from the sky for them and made streams flow therein, but, then, We destroyed them for their sins and established other nations after them. 6 (Muhammad), had We sent you a Book on paper, the unbelievers would have touched it with their hands but would still have said, "It is no more than plain sorcery". 7 They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them. 8 Had we appointed him (Our messenger) an angel, We assuredly had made him (as) a man (that he might speak to men); and (thus) obscured for them (the truth) they (now) obscure. 9 Messengers have been mocked before you, but those who scoffed were overtaken by the very thing they scoffed at. 10
