Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
