Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
