The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
