Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
