The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
