No, by the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What took you into the hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
