The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
