The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
