The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
