The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
