He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
