Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
